The JSR has strengthened its global coverage following the appointment
of new deputy registrars (DRs) in North America, China, Asia, the
Middle East, and Scandinavia.
Calvin Cheng, Chairman
of Eastmark Associates, has taken responsibility for New York
and Shanghai. Spending alternate two week periods in the US and
China, Mr Cheng will combine his role as DR with his ship finance
and management activities at Eastmark.
The JSR will also be
expecting a surge in Scandinavian tonnage following the appointment
of Janette Stennett of Uudenmaan Sailing. She will represent the
JSR in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the Baltic.

Allen
Walters, Managing Director of Marden Marine Management, will represent
the JSR in Asia and the Middle East. Mr Walters has a wealth of
experience in the ship registry business, specialising in mortgages.
New DRs have also been appointed for Portugal and the Ukraine. Taking
control in Portugal is Jose Luis Resende. He boasts 31 years shipping
experience and has been the honorary consul for Jamaica in Portugal
for 30 years. Gudko Sergey will use his 10 years of industry experience
to attract Ukrainian tonnage to the Jamaica flag.
